The Potomac Dogwoods were chartered in 1975 and are one of the oldest Good Sam Club RV camping club chapters in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our mission is to camp once a month (except for January and February) at campgrounds selected by our Wagonmaster, have a great time and make some wonderful memories. All are welcome to join us.
Each month one of our members takes on the hosting duties for a particular camp out. That individual is the "social director" for that campout. They suggest activities that attendees can pursue, organize things at the campout like games, potluck dinners or breakfasts and other things to make this a fun weekend.
Most of our campouts are on weekends though we have been experimenting with weekday campouts . The durations of the campouts are normally two nights and three days. But many of our members choose to stay an additional day or two or for the whole week. We're very flexible.
Some of the on site activities that we have enjoyed in the past include pot luck dinners and breakfasts, a 50/50 raffle, horseshoe, cornhole and bocce games as well as attending programs put on by the campgrounds that we have camped at. Some of the off site activities that we have enjoyed in the past have included having group dinners at local restaurants, going to breweries, wineries or distilleries, touring museums, going to outlet malls or other retailers, hiking nearby trails, fishing, attending local festivals and many other activities. You can participate as much as you want. Or you can just chill during the campout. It's your choice .
